The Line of Love, the seventh installment in James Branch Cabell’s Biography of the Life of Manuel, is a short story collection that satirizes love and marriage, combining Cabell’s affinity for genealogical works with his signature comedic wit. Originally published in 1905, it was revised in 1921 to better fit within the Life of Manuel series, and follows the romantic escapades of the “monstrous clever fellow” Jurgen’s descendants.
